Amelia Neumeister and myself at the Atlanta International Airport.

The excitement is unreal. The nerves are even more present. In less than 24 hours, I will be setting foot in a new country on a completely new continent. Am I excited to finally explore another part of the world? Absolutely! Am I scared about entering a new country with a completely foreign language and different cultural expectations? Honestly, I wonder who wouldn’t be. I am thrilled to begin this new journey. I cannot wait to explore and discover the places that I have only known in history books. I have longed for ages to see more than the state of Alabama and the eastern half of the United States. There is so much potential in the next three and a half weeks, and I’m anxious to see what my thoughts will be as I prepare to fly home on June 25. So, here’s to Germany. Here’s to flying across an ocean, which is probably my biggest fear. Here’s to language barriers that will foster new communication. Here’s to new foods and new experiences that will teach me to go out there and try new things. Here’s to dreams come true and the opportunity of a lifetime I never thought would be mine. As Albus Dumbledore once said, “Let us step into the night and pursue that flighty temptress adventure.”
