IMG_0395I sit reading over my packing list just hours before my plane flight, not being able to contain my excitement for my first ever trip to Europe. I always wanted to study abroad in summer, so that I would not be gone during a whole semester at Alabama. As I searched for the right program, UA in Oxford caught my eye. The classes revolve around the city of Oxford and the United Kingdom itself, making it very appealing to study Phillip Pullman, CS Lewis, Geoffrey Chaucer, Lewis Carroll, and the Beatles all in their native land. Knowing that I could save an internship for the next summer, I decided to commit and study abroad this summer. With no language barrier, I am not nervous at all about traveling to Europe. It will take a few days to get used to the way of life there, but I do not believe there will be any culture shock. I am at an ease of mind knowing that this program will enable me to be able to travel around the UK throughout the duration of it. Through this experience, I know I will gain a greater appreciation of the arts, all while learning where so many greats once studied. I know I will take in an experience that I will never forget, in an adventure that only comes once in a lifetime. Hopefully, my peers and I will be able to soak in all of the history and importance that the town and college of Oxford has to offer.
