Now that I am back in the United States I want nothing more than to go back to Europe. I cannot even put in to words how this trip was by far the best experience I have ever had. I miss the food and I miss the people and I miss the ability to drive 3 hours or jump on a cheap flight to experience a new culture. There was only one point in the trip where I felt homesick in the whole month that I was away. This was largely due to the fact that I did not speak the native language and I was having problems understanding what was going on around me. That was the one thing that caught me by surprise, but other than that I would study abroad again in a heartbeat! Studying abroad definitely made me realize how “small-minded” some Americans can be. I did not realize just how crucial our politics and economy can have an effect on smaller countries in Europe, such as Denmark. While I was visiting family friends in Denmark, the topic of American politics came up almost every other day. I was amazed at how educated these people were on politics that (I thought) I nothing to do with their country. At some points they were more educated on certain topics than I was! Now that I have been home in the US, I have made a point to update and educate myself on American politics. I have also notice that I am thinking about traveling abroad more and more. This experience just opened my eyes to how big the world really is and that there is just so much to see! I am so eager to explore new places and I am currently already planning another trip abroad for next summer!
