Love Letter to Valencia
I never expected to love this city so much. From the perfect weather, to the beautiful language, to the vibrant atmosphere, everything in Valencia has gone above and beyond my expectations.
Valencia, I love you because “Spanish Time” is very real. I’ll actually miss the 55 minute bus rides to the beach, and internship supervisors who tell me to show up whenever I want. I’ll miss making plans with the expectation of lenciency and flexibility.
Valencia, I love you because there’s never a dull moment. On every corner, there’s a coffee shop where I can sit and chat with locals, or a restaurant serving amazing tapas; there are endless cheap excursions to go on in the city and outside of it; the clubs and bars are lively and exciting; the beaches never disappoint.
Valencia, I love you because you’ve brought me a beautiful host family. I cannot express how cared for and supported I feel by my host mom. And I have been able to meet so many amazing, intelligent, beautiful girls from all over the world through this home. From France, to Italy, to Prague, to the Czech Republic.
Valencia, I love you because you’ve brought me some of the best – and most unexpected – friendships. Not only do I have new friends from my own university, but also from all over the US, and all over the world. We’re already planning a reunion, and I could not be more excited for it. There’s something about experiencing this city together that just creates bonds like no other.
Valencia, I love you, and I can’t wait to see you again!
