The past four months I have had the opportunity to travel all over Italy. Before coming here I had no clue how big and diverse the country was, you can go skiing in the Alps up north, exploring in a vineyard or a large city in the east, relaxing on the beach in the south, or hiking in the west. You will never be bored in Italy. The past weekend I got to go explore the Amalfi Coast with my entire program. If you ever have the opportunity to study or visit Italy, the Amalfi Coast is a must see.
With all 90 of us in 2 buses we began our journey to the Amalfi Coast. The first stop was Pompeii which was Roman city destroyed by Mt. Vesuvius that was discovered years later buried by ashes. The city allows tourists to see how people lived in 79 AD it defiantly made me feel like we traveled back in time. Our next stop was in Sorrento, a city right on the ocean. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The next day we got to take a ferry to the Island of Capri and got a private boat tour of the island.
Overall, it was an amazing weekend all put together by API, my study abroad program. Throughout the past 4 months all 90 of us in my program have become amazing friends and it’s going to be so hard to leave everyone at the end of the semester. I am beginning to prepare for finals now and getting ready to leave in a few weeks. I am interested to see how post-departure goes and if I will have a culture shock returning to America.
Here are some pictures of Pompeii, Sorrento, and Capri:
