Studying abroad has been a dream of mine since I was little. When I found out about the accounting study abroad program through the University of Alabama, I knew it was meant to be. Accounting is my major so incorporating it with traveling was the perfect opportunity. We will be traveling to Prague, Vienna, Paris and Dresden. I don’t know what to expect when visiting these cities because I’ve never been to a country that I don’t know the language. It will be interesting when trying to communicate with the native people of the country. I can’t wait to sight-see in each city and also go shopping for authentic souvenirs. The money I have received from this study abroad scholarship will help pay for my food and souvenirs while abroad. I received one other scholarship from the Culverhouse Business School which will pay for my flights to Europe. The two-week study abroad program is perfect timing for me for two reasons. Financially, it is affordable for my budget because a whole semester abroad program was too much money. The second reason is, I don’t think I would like staying abroad for a long period of time. Although living in Alabama is far away from my hometown in New Jersey, Europe is a whole different length away. I enjoy visiting for a week or two but then it is nice to go back home. I can’t wait to see what experiences are ahead and what friends I will make on my study abroad trip!
