I am so excited for this trip. I am studying abroad in Florence Italy, and I can’t wait to leave. 13 days left and I am getting all the final paperwork pulled together and starting to pack! This experience will be amazing I just know it. I get to meet family I haven’t met before or haven’t seen in a really long time. I will be spending my 20th birthday abroad and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate. My grandmother has been very supportive throughout this entire time. She grew up in Italy and is very excited that I get to go visit and study the language. I am traveling before and after the group to stay with family which is making me a little nervous. I have never traveled outside the States before and my first time will be by myself to a country that is super far from home. Even though I am nervous. I know this will be an amazing experience. I am counting down the days, but I can’t help but think of recent events in the world. I am a criminal justice major with an Italian and Spanish minor and I want to be involved in the government. Terrorism is a problem now days and traveling isn’t the best of times especially being American. Even knowing this, I am thrilled I get to be apart of this trip. I love the fact that I will get to eat amazing food, and drink coffee that is indescribable. I will get to see beautiful Florence and I can’t wait to leave.
Traveling abroad is an experience that really can help you in the future. It will give you an adventure to pull from when you get into the real world. It will give you some incredible stories and it will help broaden your horizons. I truly can’t wait for my trip to start. No matter what happens, I will have an adventure to recall when I am sitting in class come fall semester. I will be able to show pictures that have no words to accompany them, and I will receive an experience like no other.
Ciao per oggi!!
