We got the experience of a lifetime going to Aquila Safari to see the big 5 up close and personal. We got to see Lions, Zebras, Hippos, Giraffes, and so much more. They are all such unique and powerful animals in their own way and to see them roam the land was beautiful and beyond comprehension and absolutely breathtaking. It was amazing to be able to see these animals as now that they are within the safari they are in a special reserve to keep them from being hunted and killed. The Rhinos have their horn cut off to reduce the chance of them being killed. Sadly this is a sad reality for many of the animals within these reserves but there are also many animals each year that do not make it because they are unprotected. If you ever get the chance to come to South Africa you must put a trip to any safari to see the big 5 on your list. You won’t regret it!
Be sure to bring a nice warm jacket if you do choose to visit South Africa this time of year because it’s winter?!! I know..winter!! Make sure to wear nice padded clothing as well during the trip as well because no matter the time of year you have to travel through rough terrain to experience these animals in their natural homes. It’s quite a bumpy ride but the views and the photos you get make it all worth the trouble and if you were like me and didn’t have on the best clothing for the trip you’ll forget all about it with the views you get!
