I’m writing this post as I am traveling to the airport to leave for my Education Abroad experience. I have been feeling so many different emotions throughout the process of preparing for this trip and now it is finally here! I am mostly excited. I’m really looking forward to immersing myself in a new culture and learning about another part of the world. I’m also super excited for all the excursions and projects my group has planned. Within the first week we will be going on a walking tour of the city of Amsterdam, cleaning up local canals, visiting nearby towns, and touring some other cool locations such as a windmill brewery, the Van Gogh Museum, and the Anne Frank House. Once we travel from Amsterdam to Copenhagen the amazing excursions continue.
I hardly have any reservations about the trip itself. My biggest worry is about traveling to and from Europe on my own for the first time. Luckily, I am flying with another student from the group. Neither of us have ever traveled without family, but I have confidence in us! I’m also a little bit anxious about mastering the metro systems throughout Europe, but I am eager to learn. Hopefully by the end of the trip I will be an expert in that mode of transport! Overall, I believe this study abroad program will prove to be an incredible learning experience and a once in a lifetime trip. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this program and I am thrilled that the experience has officially begun!
