My Journey Across the Atlantic to Discover New Cultures

Getting ready to jet off on this crazy adventure feels like the right move for me right now, especially with my dad cheering me on. He’s always been big on traveling and he’s been pushing me to take this leap. I’m a rising senior at the University of Alabama, and the chance to study accounting in London and Lisbon for two weeks sounds too good to pass up. With the help of the many scholarship opportunities through the accounting program at UA, I was able to save some money, and I figure the experience will be beyond worth it. I’m busy packing my bags, making sure I’ve got all the basics covered. Got my adaptors and guidebooks ready to roll. But besides the stuff I can touch, I’m also trying to get my head in the game. It’s a bit nerve-wracking, but I’m telling myself it’s all part of the ride. As the days tick down, my head’s spinning with all sorts of thoughts. I can’t help but think about my family and friends back home. There’s a mix of excitement and nervousness bubbling up inside me. Leaving behind what I know is kind of scary, but I know it’s going to be worth it in the end. I’ve got big hopes for this trip. I want to soak up as much culture as I can and meet people from all walks of life. And on the academic side, I’m hoping to learn some new tricks in the accounting game. Plus, I can’t wait to dive into the local scenes, try new foods, and see the sights. It’s going to be a wild ride, but I’m ready to dive in headfirst.
