Back home in Tuscaloosa after my unforgettable trip to London and Lisbon, I can’t help but wish I had more time in those amazing cities. The trip was an enriching experience that seemed to pass by in the blink of an eye. It feels like just yesterday I was admiring London’s famous landmarks and enjoying the wonderful flavors of Lisbon. I could have easily spent much longer there, taking in the culture, history, and food each city has to offer.

Now back in Tuscaloosa for the summer, I’m diving into two accounting classes. Continuing my education here helps me keep the learning going from my time abroad. The classes are challenging but rewarding, constantly reminding me of the incredible experiences I had studying Internal Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) overseas.

In London, we balanced our intense study sessions with amazing sightseeing. I still remember the excitement of seeing the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, and Westminster Abbey. A special highlight was the “Back to the Future” musical, which was a fantastic mix of nostalgia and modern theater.

Lisbon offered a different but equally enriching experience with its rich history and vibrant food scene. The cooking class, boat tour, wine tasting trip, and catamaran adventure were not only fun but also deeply immersive. Every meal was a delight, from fresh seafood to delicious pastries. The charm of Lisbon, especially seen from the waters of the Tagus River, is something I’ll never forget.

The trip was more than just an educational journey; it was a life-changing experience. The idea of returning to take the same class for graduate credit is very appealing. It’s a chance to dive deeper into IFRS while reliving the cultural and culinary experiences that made the trip so special.

Reflecting on this journey, I’m filled with gratitude for the memories and the knowledge I gained. While I’m back in Tuscaloosa now, continuing my studies, the pull of London and Lisbon still tugs at me. I can’t wait for the day I can return and once again mix learning with the rich experiences these cities offer.
