As a Hospitality Management major I had heard about the UA in Italy: Food and Wine tour study abroad program for a few years and was very interested. This certain program was the only reason I even considered a study abroad program because it fit my interests just perfectly. With a summer internship I couldn’t be gone long, so 9 days is just right. Also, I am more of a homebody so I knew going a shorter amount of time would be better for me. Then also, this class will count toward my graduate credits for the Accelerated Master’s Program for Hospitality Management so this program is a no-brainer for me. I knew if I could get the finances organized to go on the trip then I would at least apply and see if I could get a spot. The great part about this program is that it was faculty-led so we had our own pre-departure meetings to discuss the activities we would be doing any items we would need like universal plug-ins, travel phone plans, and the dress code in Italy. My goal for the trip is to enjoy being in Bologna, Italy and engage in every activity. I will try any food and wine they offer us to embrace their culture as this is the only time I will get this experience. I am hoping to come back with more knowledge of traveling, Italy, and the food and wine tour. I am most excited for some of the activities we will do such as pasta making classes, ceramics workshop, truffle hunting, and the Parmigiano Reggiano factory tour.
