Going to Rome has always been a dream of mine ever since I was a kid hearing the myths and legends about gods and heroes. So much so my childhood self wanted nothing more than to be an archeologist and to be able to see all those stories up close, but my dad gave me the reality check that I probably needed, saying that archeologists do not make any money and to choose a profession that I both like AND make money in. So it was a dream come true to study classical mythology and archelogy in the Eternal City. Luckily, I got scholarships and financial aid that covered most of the study abroad costs. I arrived in Rome about two or three days ago and am so excited to see what there is to see. Yesterday I saw the American University of Rome campus and it was the view from the top terrace floor was amazing and you could see off for miles. My mythology class seems simple and easy, with it being a survey class that only covers the twelve Olympians and significant legendary heroes. Unlike my mythology class, my archeology class seems like it will be pretty tricky and very in-depth, but apparently, all of the classes will be field trips to all the historical sites. The following month, I will go to Barcelona, Spain, for one weekend and Split, Croatia, for another. I am very excited to see what this next month Rome has in stall for me.
