Rome is known for its prominent ancient history and I have visited every attraction and landmark there is to see. It was breathtaking to see the Colosseum in real life and envision the combats between gladiators that took place once before. The city has so much ancient history and landmarks are full of tourists at all times of the day and any day of the week. My favorite landmark was the Trevi Fountain, it is so beautiful. Rumor is that if you throw a coin into the fountain, you’ll make your way back to Rome in the future so I made sure to throw in three just in case! Also, I did research after leaving and found out that the coins are collected and donated to people who are in poverty and I thought that was such a great thing.
Before coming to Rome, I made it my mission to venture out and explore what Europe offers. It is week three in Rome and so far, I have visited Florence, Italy, Split, Croatia, and I am heading to Sicily, Italy this weekend. My favorite “side quest” so far was in Split, Croatia. The location we chose for our Airbnb was waterfront so every morning I woke up to a view of beautiful turquoise ocean water. They also had an amazing party scene and everyone I came across loved me and my entire group because we were American. I met some of the friendliest people on my boat tour and even while venturing around in the city. I had such an amazing time and I will be back.
