During my 3-week study abroad trip in Rome, Italy I had the opportunity to go to Lake Como with three of my classmates for the weekend. We started out the week in Florence with our whole group, and then ventured off to Venice where we got to see just how unique a city is that is connected only by canals. From there we traveled further north to Como, where we were transported to a quaint town on the lake that looked like it came out of a Disney fairytale. It was so charming and cozy from the architecture to the small restaurants near the water. After a day in Como we took a ferry to see some of the smaller cities on Lake Como, one of which was Bellagio. Bellagio was a hilly cobblestone town filled with lots of small shops and gardens. We toured one of the gardens, which only enhanced the feeling of being in a real-life Disney Princess movie. The gardens were overlooking the lake with a large English style estate on the property with lots of rich history. The people of each region of Italy are very different just like in the U.S., and the people of Northern Italy were just as charming as their cities filled with marvelous stories and lots of love to share with visitors. Although our time was short in Como, it was absolutely magical and it was my favorite city we visited and I cannot wait to go back one day to see more of its charm.
