Wow! Genuinely all I can think so far is wow. This trip is a first of its kind since we are hiking every day and not staying in one place. Rather than seeing all the things one city has to offer or going to class and having homework every day, I am lucky enough to see at least one different city every day. Most days we end up walking through at least 3. While not every place we have gone is a city in the way most people think of a city; some places only have one road through the town and a very small convenience store, I am getting the opportunity to see places most people don’t. The Spanish countryside is simply amazing. I will admit that the hiking is not always the most fun, but the views, conversation, and history in every small town is more than worth it. Unlike most traditional study abroad trips, every day is a different excursion, so I feel that I am getting to see more than most people. Additionally, I feel like I am avoiding being stuck in the traditional tourist spots. We still get to see some of these tourist places. We started the trip in Paris, and we’ve been to Pamplona and Logroño since then, but most of our time is spent elsewhere. My favorite thing about this trip so far is all the churches we get to stop at. The architecture is incredible, and it is amazing to see things that have been around as long as these churches have been. I can’t wait for the rest of the hiking and to see many more places off the beaten path.
