Today was my final day of class. As I walked out of the building I was filled with a wave of accomplishment. I started my walk home taking in the sights one last time as this was the last time I would walk home from class. I started to think back to my first day. The repeating word of the day was, Bienvenidos! Bienvenidos! Now today the word on repeat is, adios. I’m not quite sure how the last eight weeks flew by so quickly. This has been such a great opportunity and I have learned so much. It is true what they say when you fully immerse yourself into a language and a culture it is advantageous because you learn so fast and pick up so many new life skills. I have met so many amazing people on this trip, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. Each and every passionate teacher that took us under their wing and exposed us to every aspect of Spain’s culture, literature, arcitecture and businesses. All of my fellow students that quickly became a close family that always looked out for eachother. As I travel the city and say my final goodbyes I realize that I no longer need my City Mapper app for directions. I know the best places to eat and have no trouble ordering and asking questions without missing a beat. Navigating the metro and the city like a true local I think back to the first day when we were afraid of getting lost in such a big city. Now that city has shrunk significantly. However, its not goodbye Madrid. It’s simply see you soon. Gracias por todo.
