Coming from a small town to Rome there has definitely been a culture shock, some things I expected and some things have shocked me. Of course before coming over here you hear/learn about how Rome is so significant for their art and history but I don’t think you can really grasp this concept until you visit there. It seems like every corner we turn on there’s another artifact from thousands of years ago. If I were to compare Rome to anywhere in the U.S. I would compare it to New York. It gives me city vibes, everyone’s in a rush and the people are rude. Which are all things I expected, but I’ve learned that when it comes down to your food, if you walk in a restaurant and you get the rudest employee ever, then your food is going to be the best thing you’ve ever eaten. So far, on my weekend trips I’ve traveled down south to the Amalfi Coast, and I can confidently say that the people are so much nicer. I find it funny the similarity between the U.S. and Italy in that manner. The Amalfi Coast was absolutely beautiful! I was able to visit the cities of Sorrento, Positano, and Capri, and can confidently say Sorrento was my favorite. The views from down by the water were absolutely incredible, but the locals are what really made the trip perfect. Everyone was so nice and accommodating! It really gave me small town vibes and reminded me of home. As we’re midway through our trip, I am appreciative for everything I’ve experienced and encountered so far, from the good and the bad.
