After a week in Seville, Spain, I could not be happier with my decision to study here! The people are amazing and the sites to see are simply mind-blowing. Most of the time, I feel like I’m in a dream. My walk to class is quite literally a walk in the park, and the most incredible park I’ve ever seen at that! To elucidate, I took a wrong turn one day and ended up at the Plaza de España, which is literally where they filmed scenes on Naboo from Star Wars!
As amazing as Seville is, I do want to encourage anyone studying abroad to go on as many excursions as possible. You are likely going to be in a completely new place with access to countless other opportunities for adventures, but only for a limited time, so take advantage of it! ISA actually plans most of our excursions for us: this past weekend, we traveled to Córdoba and Granada (see pic below), and I cannot possibly speak more highly of the experience, and this coming weekend, we are traveling to Gibraltar, after which I am going to Cádiz with some of my new friends! On that note: even if you are introverted, I highly encourage you to meet new people and don’t be afraid of trying new things. You’ll never know what’s in store for you.
One small note: if you are planning to visit a different country on an excursion by yourself, ask for advice from your on-site staff. One group is going to Morocco, and staff told us to only go with an organized tour group since that country in particular can be dangerous for tourists.
That said, I still encourage you to get out there and go see places, both in the place you are actually studying and in other nearby destinations!
