Yesterday I left the place I have been calling my home for the past two and a half weeks.
At the beginning, I was so scared that I wasn’t going to make any friends and that I would be alone, away from everything and everyone I was familiar with. Realizing that everyone is going through the same emotions as you, trying to find where they fit in at and the people they will want to spend the next 18 days growing closer to, made it so much easier to just talk to everyone and make friends.
Getting thrown into the deep end with no service and nothing you are familiar with on the second day, made everyone bond a so much more than we ever thought was possible. After those five days, everyone swore we had known each other for forever, we had made our new best friends that we will share this experience with forever.
It is really tough to think about that some of us might never see each other again because of close you bond while you’re there. We have already started talking about hanging out when we all get back to school. Leaving everyone at the airport was really difficult for everyone, we never expected at the beginning of the trip that we would be so sad coming back home.
The other part of me was so excited to come home and share my experience with my family and friends who have been waiting on me to come home for over two weeks. I would never trade the experience I had in Belize for anything in the world, this was the best trip i’ve ever been on.
