So, you know you want to study abroad but you are having trouble choosing a program – let’s be honest it can be a bit overwhelming!
This was definitely one of the most grueling parts of the study abroad application process, but having just completed my study abroad program, I can offer some advice and comments about the AIFS program in Barcelona.
I ultimately chose this program because the university that AIFS was paired with (Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona) offered a lot of courses which I was interested in and that I could receive major credit for at Alabama. However, the program exceeded all of my expectations.
AIFS – The American Institute for Foreign Studies offers a ton of different programs across the world. I can’t speak for other programs, but I felt that the AIFS staff in the Barcelona office were extremely caring and wanted to help us have the best possible experience in Barcelona and throughout our travels. They provided us with several activities to places in and around Barcelona. I especially enjoyed trips (included in the price) to Montserrat, Girona, as well as the cooking and flamenco classes offered in Barcelona.
Additionally, for an extra cost I was able to take a trip to Marrakech, Morocco through AIFS and it was amazing. All transport, activities, meals, and accommodations were taken care of and we had an amazing trip.
Ultimately, you need to choose the program that feels right to and your needs (though I don’t think you can really go wrong). That being said I really enjoyed my experience with AIFS and I would recommend it to anyone, especially those considering Barcelona.
