Wow, it’s been almost a week since we’ve been back in the States and I’m still in shock with how well the trip went.
It is honestly such a good feeling to come back from a three week trip that we’ve been dreaming about for a year now, knowing that it went WAY better than expected. The group I went with was such a terrific bunch of motivated students with a thirst for knowledge, especially as it pertains to STEM, business, and poverty studies. I am not sure that we could have been a more eclectic bunch aside from those characteristics, but that was what it made interesting, crazy!
We took about three bajillion pictures, so there’s no way I could be happy with choosing just a few to represent our trip as a whole. But here are a few, to give you a glimpse of our schedule.

Our trip mostly consisted of going on field visits to talk to 6 non-consumer segments of people, regarding what types of products of services they would be interested to see available for them in the future. We took their dialogues and brainstormed to come up with four “things” that could potentially be carried out. Here is a VERY BASIC description of each idea.
1.two-ply fabric made from jute and Tyvek ® to keep produce fresh longer
2.job app to bring together employers and employees in search of each other in rural areas
3.cow urine capture system to use for organic fertilizer made from cow urine, feces, and milk
4.low-cost water filtration system for rural India
And with that, we’ve completed the India portion of the project. We still have a ton to do to pursue these ideas, though. Wish us luck, we’ll need it!
