During the weekend, I had the time to take a trip to Germany. After a long week of classes and my midterm exam, I was looking forward to some time to relax and enjoy Europe without worrying about Macroeconomic Policy… I left Thursday after class, taking the tube straight from LSE to Heathrow Airport. This line, the Piccadilly Line, is extremely convenient for getting to and from the Airport from many locations in London, including my flat in Chelsea. After about an hour on the tube, I navigated through LHR and took my first flight to Frankfurt, a massive airport with stringent customs agents. Barely making my connection, I flew from Frankfurt to Nuremberg, landing around 11pm. I then took a cab to my destination, finally arriving at around midnight. This 8 hour journey was long, but it went off without a problem, and I was happy to be in Germany. This is my 3rd visit here, and I always look forward to a typical German Breakfast, consisting of rolls, various sausages, poached eggs, and spreads. I went to the butcher for the sausage and baker for the bread that morning. It tasted fresh, and the butter is especially delicious there. After devouring breakfast, I spent the day exploring Nuremberg, learning about the history, specifically the major battle in WW2 where the Royal Air Force and United States defeated the resistance of the city, capturing a major geographical landmark. The weekends provide an incredible opportunity to cheaply travel across Europe, visiting landmarks that interest me for historical reasons and enjoying unique foods that were absolutely delicious.
