I’m currently sitting in the Tiber Cafe (my school’s dining hall) reminiscing on my last month I have spent living in Rome, Italy. I am a junior studying abroad at John Cabot University located in the heart of the Eternal City. The school is amazing, we have 2 beautiful campuses and a student body of about 2,000 people with a mix of mainly Italians and Americans. It’s crazy that I am already one fourth the way done with my journey abroad. Over the past month I have gained so many new experiences and ate a ton of amazing pizza, pasta, and gelato. I never thought I would be living in such a beautiful city filled with amazing sights that I see on a daily basis such as the Trevi Fountain, Colosseum, Roman Forum, the Vatican, and many more.
So far I have had the opportunity to travel to other countries and explore my new home in Rome. My second weekend I went to Zurich, Switzerland with my new friends I met through my program. We explored the historic churches in Zurich and had lunch on top of Mt. Rigi located in the Swiss Alps.
Last weekend I visited my family friend who lives in Milan and if you know me you would know I was in heaven with all of the shopping, fashion, and city life. My friend showed me around the city, introduced me to his friends from school, and took me to Lake Como for the day (sadly I did not see George Clooney).
This weekend I am going to Venice with a big group of friends for the Venice Carnival, one of the biggest carnivals in Europe. While studying abroad I have made so many new friends and connected with other students who go to University of Alabama. Some other trips I have planned include Florence, Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Morocco, Tuscany, Amalfi Coast, Pompeii and Dubai. I can’t wait to see where the next 3 months take me and am excited to keep everyone updated on school and my travels!
