Although I was very disappointed to be leaving Berlin, a city I had grown to be familiar with and love, I was also very excited to go home and see my friends again and return to Tuscaloosa, a place that I had missed very much. I had a bit of a stressful travel experience on my way back, involving a delayed flight. However, in the end, I was grateful for the experience because it has allowed me to become a more confident traveler.

When I first arrived in the airport in the United States, I was shocked by how loudly everyone was talking. I was also given more personal space than I had been given by others in most of the places that I traveled in Europe. I did not miss my host country immediately, but it did hit me after a few days of being home.

One of the most noticeable things about my return home was readjusting to driving. Not only did I not have access to a car while abroad, but I relied solely on the extensive public transportation systems and walking to get me everywhere I needed to go, so having to drive to destinations was certainly something I needed to readjust to.

I will miss Berlin very much. I feel like I learned so much about the city and about German history that I certainly could not have learned without seeing it for myself. I would love to go back some day and show a friend or family member around!
